In Genesis 9:18–29 we see a shocking scene inside Noah’s tent… but we also see a beautiful picture of the gospel. Noah’s fall reminds us that even the most faithful believers still battle sin. Ham exposes his father’s shame, but Shem and Japheth move toward their father in honor — covering what sin exposed. This act points forward to Christ, the One who perfectly covers His people with His righteousness. In this passage we also see the curse upon Canaan, the blessing upon Shem, and the prophetic promise that Japheth (the Gentiles) will one day dwell in the tents of Shem — fulfilled in the gospel of Jesus Christ drawing all nations into one household of faith.
